Preparing for season

1. Removing of cover

Never try to remove the cover without removing all the water from its surface. First, it is recommended remove larger dirt particles (leaves, fragments of branches, grass), and then water. It is suitable to use a submersible pump or use a garden hose as a siphon.

After uncovering your pool, the cover must be cleaned properly, disinfected and stored in dry place.

2. Repairing and disinfection of swimming-pool

It is recommended to make a check of water leaking before the new swimming season starts. This provides enough time for repairs of pool or technology if necessary.

Water must reach the level of skimmer or overflow channel while checking leaking. If there is no decreasing of water level (more than 20 mm/day) in next 24 hours, the pool is unbroken and waterproof. So if you want to disinfect and clean it from inside, now you can empty the pool.

Never use aggressive detergents or soaps for the swimming-pool cleaning, because there is a possibility of water contamination which can cause damage of water treatment system (probes). Also steel parts of pool should be cleaned properly (nozzles, counter-current, drains), if they were not uninstalled before winter.

Then it is recommended to use some disinfection product – for example Savo.

3. Filling with water

When filling the pool, you must first close the bottom suction nozzle to prevent leakage of water, and then fill the pool with water to a height of 5-10 cm above the bottom.

Then remove all the dirt from walls, stairs, and skimmer or overflow channel.

Water used for cleaning should be led to a sewerage (this also cleans pipeline of the pool). Filtration pipe branch is closed in this case and water is led directly to a drain. After this you can fill your pool with clean water and switch on the filtration.

4. Chemical treatment

Before dosing of chemical products you should check dosing and measuring devices. It is necessary to rinse electrodes cell, dosing pump and mixing tank with water and clean them properly.

Dose free chlorine in volume around 1 mg/l first and then, after one hour, reduce the volume to required 0,3mg/l. Then start dosing of coagulating product – 1g per recirculated m3 of water.

Do not change adjusted dosing values and recirculation ratio until the water is clean and clear. If ozonizing device is equipped, it is also necessary to clean all dosing tubes and check function of the ozone-generator.

5. Calibration of all technology devices

Then it is necessary to calibrate the probes and every single device. For quality and efficient water treatment it is also necessary to achieve such values of pH, free chlorine, alkalinity, water hardness and amount of dissolved substances to obtain a balance between them.

To achieve stability and safety of water it is necessary to keep:

  • the value of free chlorine in the range 0.2 to 0.5 mg / l
  • pH from 6.5 to 7.4
  • ANC4,5 in the range 0.8 to 1.2 mmol / l
  • the total content of Ca 2+ and Mg 2+ in the range of 2 to 3 mmol / l
